Downtown to host 3rd Annual Blessing of the Animals Event

The third annual Blessing of the Animals event will be held thisvSunday, October 4th, 2016 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in downtown Lincolnton located on the south side of the Court House lawn. The event will have pet blessings offered every fifteen minutes, a pet costume contest, a DJ providing entertainment, vendors and free ice cream. Lincoln County Animal Services will be on-site offering pet adoptions.

This event was formed when two churches (First United Methodist Church and Emmanuel Lutheran Church) within the downtown area approached City staff in the Business and Community Development department about joining their two separate events and opening it up to the public. The outcome brought together several local non-profit organizations (Humane Society of Lincoln County, HATS Lincoln County and The Downtown Development Association of Lincolnton) and local businesses (Lincolnton Animal Hospital, Heavenly Paws Grooming, K9 Command and Fur Baby’s Boutique) together to put on this free event. The event serves as a pet food drive to help stock the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, attendees are asked to bring donations to help with this.

Interested vendors/participants should contact Abby Cole at 704-736-8915 for more information.
